I won’t retell the same story here. I just want to say how very sad I am for Carl. He could really use our help. After the drunk driver pleaded guilty, Carl’s family got very little in restitution. It comes nowhere near to paying the costs associated with the injuries he suffered (and continues to suffer from).

Of course it’s always nice to see a pretty gun toting girl running around shooting things up. But seriously, this plot was WEAK!

The only times Selene ran out of bullets was when the plot required it. Seriously unrealistic, even for a vampire / werewolf movie.

The other hard to swallow was the villain. Who was the villain? And what about the fate of humankind…? Any conjecture further on my part will make this post into a spoiler. And while I was left lukewarm on my feelings towards this movie, I don’t intend to ruin it for you.

Would I recommend this movie? Only if you are one of those people that has to see the newest sci-fi fantasy and plot is no option!

Thank you for contacting me to express your concerns regarding the Preventing Real Online Threats to Economic Creativity and Theft of Intellectual Property Act of 2011, more commonly referred to as the PROTECT IP Act of 2011.  I appreciate hearing your thoughts on this important issue.

On May 12, 2011, the Preventing Real Online Threats to Economic Creativity and Theft of Intellectual Property Act of 2011 (S. 968) was introduced in the Senate and referred to the Committee on the Judiciary.  This bill would allow the Attorney General, or an intellectual property rights owner who has been harmed by an Internet site dedicated to infringing activities (ISDIA), also known as a rogue website, to take action against that site.  A site would be designated as an ISDIA if their sole purpose is to facilitate copyright infringement, or promote or sale of counterfeited American works.

A recent study suggests that copyright piracy alone costs the American economy as much as $58 billion a year and countless jobs.  I strongly support the goal of reducing the theft of intellectual property that is so important to North Carolina’s economy, including our budding film industry, which is why I and 40 of my bipartisan cosponsors originally cosponsored this legislation last July.

As with all proposed legislation, legitimate concerns have been raised about some of the specific provisions in this bill.  I believe that supporters and opponents of the bill, all of whom agree, after all, on the need to combat the theft of American intellectual property, should work together to address those concerns.  As you may know, the Senate is scheduled to begin consideration of this legislation later this month, and I intend to approach the debate and amendment process with an open mind. Through a full and robust debate, I believe we can improve the legislation, ultimately reaching an agreement that will protect intellectual property without limiting innovation and creativity or creating unintended consequences.

What do you think of Hagen’s response?

One of my fellow marketers sent me an email this morning showing a screen shot of Facebook. She thought it was funny that about 10 times a day she sees this ad in her stream on Facebook.

I didn’t think it was funny. And here’s why:

• I wasn’t asked if I endorsed your product.
  (Apparently when you click “Like” it is implicitly an endorsement.)
• I wasn’t compensated for the endorsement.
• I wasn’t even notified that my profile pic and name were associated with your product.
  (Of course, it may be in one of the thousands of pages of fine print that Facebook puts out.)

It’s most likely Facebook’s fault, but I can’t help but feel a bit peeved at the company I supposedly endorse either.

In 2005 I went to Charlottesville to see the Pixies, and it was General Admission… Gotta say, that makes for a MUCH better show. Everyone stood up the whole show here in Greensboro, but it was a whole lot more stilted than the General Admission show.

I bought a T-Shirt. Of course. I’ll post that pic when I have one of me wearing it. =)

Either way, I’m pleased as punch to have a new site designed on the WordPress platform. WordPress has become my favorite website development environment. The data is separated from the design (aka the Theme). This let’s me change the skin of the site as often as I want without the rigamaroll of inputting the website content all over again.

The other great thing I’m excited about, this website will make it much easier for me to share my creative works. Thus far I’ve uploaded some of my Digital Works and some of my Sound pieces. Take a gander at em when you get a chance.

In 1755 Lisbon, Portugal, three waves of earthquake struck just off the coast creating a tsunami that washed over the ports. The disaster hit around 9am in the morning on All Saints Day. Many of the citizens were in Churches for the holiday sermons. The timbers shaken loose fell on the votive candles, burning many of those not initially crushed in the fall.

Lisbon was rebuilt in the town planning of the Enlightenment through an unprecedented cooperation of nations across Europe.

News 14 Carolina: Marriage amendment battle gearing up in NC

As a married heterosexual myself I’ve never understood why anyone would care if gays get married. But it seems to spark off the same sort of visceral response in extremist christians that atheists do.

Here’s a subtle veneer covering a brutal primitivism of fear, the sort that led our species through the Dark Ages wherein neighbor burned neighbor at the stake in some misbegotten effort of conformity…

Or maybe I just ate too much popcorn last night at the movie theater, and this perspective is another aspect of my indigestion and insomnia. I doubt it though. I think people really are that scared of not having conformity.
